Activities: Studio and baby portrait session
Technical Information: Adobe Photoshop
Reflection: July 24th was my first baby portrait session. The little girl’s name was Bellamy and she was about 6 months old. Although she was adorable, I got to experience firsthand the difficulties of working with small children. Babies tend to tire out easily, so Tammy and I had to work quickly to capture enough quality images of Bellamy before she got cranky. While Tammy was crouched everywhere on the floor and moving around constantly, I was always a step behind her holding a variety of toys and trying my best to make the baby smile. It proved to be very frustrating to try to make the baby smile and look at the camera. In addition to the difficulties with making Bellamy smile, another frustration I had was when a bride gave Tammy feedback about the coffee table book I made. She asked that we switch out about half of the images in the book to others that appealed to her more. That meant I basically had to redesign an entire book which takes days to create. Eventually I switched out the images she didn’t want and she told Tammy she was very happy with what I had made. Although it was initially frustrating that I had to re-do my hard work, it was rewarding in the end to know she was happy with my creation.
