Reflection: I had an amazing internship experience and was able to have fun while learning. I was able to pursue an interest of mine while incorporating the technology side of the business. During this experience I have gotten to see what it is like to interact with customers and market your own business. I now realize that starting your own business may be difficult but there are definite advantages to that endeavor. Throughout this experience I have been able to attend a variety of different weddings (even a destination wedding in Boone), go to bridal portrait sessions, children’s portrait sessions, senior portrait sessions, and be involved in studio work such as picture editing. This has allowed me to see all sides of the business.
This internship wasn’t exactly what I expected, but in a good way. I anticipated doing more computer-related tasks such as managing the Tammy Wingo Photography Facebook page and her business website. That was a pleasant surprise to me because I enjoy hands-on learning and would much rather be outside taking pictures than sitting behind a desk working at a computer. I would recommend this as an internship for anyone who has a strong desire to learn more about photography and what it is like to photograph weddings, children, etc. I’m very thankful for this experience and thankful for all the help, training, and advice Tammy has provided me throughout the internship.
